Forbidden Under the Crown of the King

This is a role-playing game (RPG). In it, some players will take on the part of the Captain and present a world of peril and plunder, and others will take on the role of Swashbucklers and seek out that plunder and peril. You will need several scraps of paper, pens, some twelve-sided dice (d12), and a few hours.
To play, you will draw a rough map of your pirate adventures and encounters. You win the game by upgrading your pirate ship six times and establishing yourselves as the fiercest pirates to hoist the black flag.
Forbidden Under the Crown of the King is based on Tunnel Goons by Nate Treme. That means it is an award-winning TTRPG!

I led this game with a group of 13-15 year olds last month in a oneshot, and it's honestly a really amazing game. Lots and lots of information in just 12 pages. Versatile enough to run a quick exploration game or do a long campaign with a rules-lite system. The tables are easy to reference and broad enough to inspire ideas without feeling trapped in the details. Love that there's a "win condition," even though my kids absolutely did not achieve it haha. Also the birthplace vs social class divide was a really smart decision in character creation. Definitely will continue to use it and play it for my own personal games and inspiration! Thanks for making this!
